Dell E5250 Core i5 4GB 256GB 12.5″ Refurb
The smallest of Dell’s midrange Latitude 5000 series, the Dell E5250 Core i5 4GB 256GB 12.5″ Refurb packs a bright 12-inch full-HD panel and Core i7 power into a utilitarian design. Not as svelte as the 7000 series nor as inexpensive as the 3000 series, the E5250 nonetheless has a comfortable keyboard, good battery life and can take a licking.
This notebook is meant for work and dresses the part. The Dell E5250 Core i5 4GB 256GB 12.5″ Refurb magnesium lid felt incredibly solid, but doesn’t come with anything fancy like carbon fiber, which is found on the premium Latitude 7000 series.
The lid opens up to reveal a 12.5-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel touch screen and a chiclet keyboard, the touchpad and two mouse buttons. The hinge opens 180 degrees so you can lay the computer flat on a table, which is quite useful if you want to use the screen like a tablet (except that it doesn’t detach from the keyboard).
Durability and Security.
The E5250’s hard plastic-and-magnesium shell makes it ready for the road desk. The machine passed MIL-STD 810G testing, a military standard that includes stressors such as high temperatures, drops and impacts of four inches or less.
It also boasts a spill-proof keyboard, so if your deskmate drops a water bottle on it, you’ll be able to wipe the water off and keep on typing. The display on the touch-screen model is made with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.
